I think that the people who keep parroting the "ethical issues" line really have never thought about art ethics before, and are filtering the situation through an extremely myopic view of "art."
For example, I can take your art, and turn it into a meme without asking or compensating you. I can trace it, change bits into a wojack or pepe face, recolor it to look like Wario, or numerous other things and this is 100% ethically fine. And if I did this, it's using far more of your art to make something new than AI does for any individual piece.
