@whynotcode I don't see a way it doesn't completely nuke the job market. If it can think as well as humans, but operate on thousands and millions of CPUs while learning from all of them, it would rapidly become better than us at about all mental tasks, and do them incredibly much faster. If an AI is good enough at coding for us not to hand code, then it seems wild to believe it would need much guidance from the same slow humans it's as smart as.
For a while I guess that would mean humans are delegated to physical labour while creative and cognitive work is done by AI, that is until robotics come along and obsolete human labour all together. At that point there's likely little to no use for any humans anywhere, and if we're lucky humans are relegated to a role of passive consumerm Wall-E style, if we're not we might find that our meeting with the AGI is like the Koala's meeting with Human Civilization.
