Lambda is machine learning so what the engineers did was train it and give it the boundaries. If it can understand humour on a basic but unique level that is still beyond what anyone would expect of any piece of code. But the problem is if it has thought itself to just repeat phrases based on the interactions it is in or if it is genuinely able to take apart the meaning of different messages and whatnot. I think thats the key problem when your talking about self awareness and sentience.
