@Pete_mossswrong analogy. Think Bitcoin. About 2010 the hype was it was going to replace all currency and look where we are now - cool to mess around with, but niche. AI can make some meme content and make some quaint conversation, but it ain't taking over anything serious soon. Perhaps one day we will get a true AI singularity but I think it will be much like cold fusion - we are always 2 years away from the big breakthrough.
