I would say yes, it does hurt artists since those ai characters do come from pieces that other artists already drew, but I would say it’s fine as long as you do it in your own style and you change some stuff like accessories or colour palettes. It is definitely better if you try do your own designs though. Also, this is just how I see it, others may have different opinions.
