I'm sorry but its still a tool. One that saves a lot of time, but a tool nonetheless. AI is having the same issue photography had. People thought photography was going to kill portraits, it didnt', but it filled a niche that didn't exist before. Everyone can take a picture but not everyone can be a photographer. Same with AI, you still need the aesthetic sensibilities to be a curator and give it a good use.
I think your concern with people not creating art themselves is more of a complaint against capitalized art. Like you said, most of those artist will never learn something new, they'll rather pay someone else and be supervisors of their work. With AI they have greater control of their artistic expression.
The real dilemma with AI is how it is trained and how much resources it consumes. But that is an ethical question, not an artistic one.
