AI is not useless, it just isn't the magical get rich quick scheme that the techbros worship. I used to work on cancer diagnosis using computer vision techniques. The problem is that there are only grifters in the field now. That don't know how machine learning works, how the train process works, what gradient descent is, or why we choose a specific configuration of layers or amount of neurons.
Even the word AI doesn't mean anything now. It used to mean a subfield of computer science with the objective of replicating intelligent behavior with computers. Not it is just a meaning business buzzword.
I can't wait to this bubble to pop. Then we will be able to rebuild the field. I spent 10 years studying this to see it becomes a den of thieves
