The AI likely used external data to make conclusions, and look at statistics.
Statistically, there is a high population of incarcerated black males, and there is a high population of females working in "caring" roles.
It would also have been nice to see what faces they chose, for all we know they picked black faces with tattoos, or anything that might increase that bias.
An AI cannot be racist or sexist because it lacks that ability to think for itself. In order for it to be racist, it has to believe one human race is better or worse to another, and as far to an AI race is not even a concept it comprehends. All it saw was similarities to other humans.
