It's used in the industry to optimise processes and thus save energy. It's also used for scientific research, to do the boring work of finding new materials with potentially interesting properties. And my plant recognition app also uses AI, like a plant specialised version of google lens. Those are useful AI applications imo, and there are many more like that. Those types are not so useful for spreading misinformation, that's another type of AI ;)
