Some people have their livelihood on the line.
Personally, I work as an illustrator for magazines, comic books, board games, etc, so I am not that concerned about AI stealing my job. My clients have specific demands that the AI can't make (yet). But early in my career, I had to take smaller jobs, like commissions for individuals, small illustrations, character art or sketches for people that needed a picture for their project, profiles on social media, or other little things like that.
Those little jobs are how a lot of artists start their careers, and it is what AI is menacing to take over. So while I am not concerned for my own career, I still feel AI is detrimental to the most vulnerable artists out there.
