You sure? Have you actually tried ChatGPT? It answers general questions pretty damn well. It's a language model - you train it with tons of written data, and it forms connections and patterns. Based on this, it gives you an answer that 'looks right', based on your question. Often, it makes very valid points, because it was trained with data that contains the very same valid points. If you think it's bad at general questions, find me a concrete example.
