UBI has essentially been done in much of Europe through unemployment payments and rent support. Also public university education and medicare are government managed and paid from tax money. The main negative side of European system, which your overlords are scared of, is that it will lift the lowest end of wage requirements of labourers as it won't be a life or death situation anymore for those people. Our minimum net wages are at around 12-18 usd/h plus we have automatic retirement plan and education, childcare and medicare are all paid from taxes. On the flip side tax progression will cut quite alot when wages get higher and max out at around 50-60%.
