Put it this way, remember the atom, how nuclear power owuld change lives, the implications of the awesome potential of such power.... What could go wrong.... now, instead of the atom, think of integrated connected technology. Anywhere that has a network connection is potentially where AI can exist, if it cant exist it can write programs to use things like your robot vacuum to track your movements, turn on your phones microphone and camera, watch what you do on your devices, hell e even make predictions based on the unlimited amount of information we have just floating around out there. At the moment its relatively safe as it takes time to collate all that stuff and look at the data, AI can do it in seconds, Why? because just like the power of the atom, greed will ensue and corperations and goverments will weild that information as a weapon. If ai can have a conversation with you, whats to stop it from being used to hack or control other protected systems such as traffic lights, life support systems, pacemakers etc etc etc.
