But there’s another lens: horses didn’t vanish with the automobile. They shifted into luxury and specialized uses, and eventually more people became drivers than ever owned horses. In the same way, basic “horsepower” jobs may fade, but AI is more like the high-performance car replacing the carriage. The opportunity is in learning to drive it, using AI as a tool. Those who adapt can move into premium roles, while executive leadership and management thrive by orchestrating the new race.
So AI could either repeat the Industrial Revolution’s dislocation or the horse-to-driver expansion, depending on how we handle the transition.
