Whenever I see stuff like this it actually reminds me of the old PS1 game called Carnage Heart. A mech vs mech type game were the player programed how the robots would fight ingame with predefined "chips" put into a 2D chessboard like structure that enabled a single thread process to do different things. Because these robots seen here are actually not that more complex in practicality despite very complex algorithms.
