I don't understand, have people actually watched the video? At no point does she "jump to racism" - in fact she actually lists "more likely sources" ie the fact that the datasets used in machine learning for facial recognition might lack diversity of face shape (of which race is simply a symptom).
Every dataset used in machine learning needs to be diverse enough, otherwise your AI will just be able to do a very specific task excellently, but not much else. Equally it can't be too diverse as it becomes to difficult to train the AI. But I wouldn't say having a diverse set of faces is too diverse a dataset, considering that the purpose of facial recognition *is* to recognise faces. It's kind of in the name...
