No, there is no secure way to get this done, unless you create a schedule of development for taking every job out of the market and giving each person replaced a beautiful paycheck as if he/she was still working.
If you start the top, the people who worked the most to earn well-paying jobs will become infuriated and stop the process through their relationships.
If you start at the bottom, you might create too much economic pressure for the lower class which won't be able to sustain itself any longer and get politicians that promise to fight this automation. If those politicians fail, violence and riots won't.
If you start with both at the same time... Both responses will become reality. And this is an oversimplification of it all XD
I mean seriously, try to even think what happens if drivers will be replaced by autos. For things to still be as efficient as possible, there might start existing laws that ban human drivers from taking the wheel. All intersection lights will disappear. Road patrols will become completely irrelevant. Road signs will also become kinda pointless and might get taken down or replaced by ads or whatever will become a norm. And that is just a very small example of how a single thing being introduced might radically change the face of society. The economic avalanche that will be released with this will be enormous and we better be ready to face it xD
