The real problem with AI art is that it represents a form of automation. More precisely: the automation of the creation process, which nevertheless still relies on human intervention.
And with this, it creates genuine art with weight and value.
But, while automation has always improved our lives over time, it has also always come at the expense of the generation that lost their jobs to it as a result.
It's undeniable and may upset many people, as it has already done so in the past, yet just as with them, if a form of automation proves sufficiently consumer-friendly, it will not only persist but, over the decades, will surpass almost all alternatives and relegate them to a marginal niche.
An inconvenient and unsettling truth that echos through history.
