You're right, in the short term... But in the long-term AI absolutely will take all jobs. The only jobs that would ever possibly remain are going to be the ones that oversee the AI systems, and those might even be replaced by AI. If you are in fact given a job pushing carts, it'll be pure charity to keep people employed so that they can continue to have incomes, but eventually what's going to happen is that every single job is going to be taken by AI and humans are going to be able to sit back and enjoy life like they do in wall e. Hopefully that would mean exercise is something people will have time for, but knowing Americans most likely will all just end up getting fat. Ai in its current form definitely won't take everybody's job, but you have to remember that the government is mandated to withhold secret technologies for 50 years. Which means that the technology that's available to the public is about 50 years behind what is actually available at the bleeding edge. We probably already have AGI and a secret bunker somewhere, and I wouldn't be surprised if Donald Trump wasn't in charge of anything and it's all being run by AI. Even if we don't already have it, eventually we will have AGI, and even though currently it would dent the cars eventually it won't. And businesses who are motivated by money will absolutely replace all their workers with AI because AI does not require a salary. And once that happens nobody will have any money to buy anything and the economy will collapse and the dollar will become useless. Currency will become useless, and society will have to restructure how it functions in order to be able to adapt to the new circumstance, unless we plan to just let this innovation fall to the wayside and not utilize the infinite gains that it can provide us.
