Everyone uses AI coding agents wrong. I use them all the time, because I was new to programming and now I use them to accelerate development and also I mainly work on AI projects so being familiar with them is just a good idea in general so here is my practical guide to use AI coding agents, the right way.
First thing, THE AI isn't the developer, YOU ARE. IT DOESN'T KNOW WHAT YOU KNOW. So always give as much information as you can.
Second, AI isn't the brain, it's your hands. It's completely useless without a brain, so think about the software yourself, and just let AI convert it to code. Like an interpreter but English to code. You can even use pseudocode if you want.
Remember you are the engineer, AI's the construction worker.
Don't tell it to build an app that does X for you. It will NEVER be what you want. You have to go almost like "Build me the home screen of this app, here is the requirements for the home screen". Like imagine you are the senior developer and you're guiding a junior dev.
Finally, use Kiro IDE it's actually impressive how good it is.
