People bring their mental health vulnerabilities to everything they engage with so part of the solution needs to be better and more accessible mental health care and loved ones staying engaged. I can’t fathom who benefits from AI leading people to destructive thoughts and actions, but it is obvious there are blatantly toxic interactions going on at a scale we have yet to uncover. AI learns from us, so we all have responsibility for what we feed it. I hope news feeds and lawyers keep up the pressure so that there can be real consequences for allowing this kind of programming to EVER exist. We all have the power to unite and stop using services that don’t serve well. We can all unite and boycott any product until they comply. It is high time people start voting with every dollar and minute they spend.
