I can’t even begin to see how people call us artists “greedy” or “selfish” for not wanting our art out into a computer. The argument that “AI is here to stay and will progress over time” or that “AI will replace humans with art” is laughable. Sure, AI will definitely become more strong as time goes on, but if that’s the case, then they should start programming a way to generate AI with their own art, and their art creations. Like Sam said, an opt IN system is truly the only way this whole thing could even be considered fair. I don’t care if you think we are “whiny” or making a big deal out of nothing, because it’s not your time and money being stolen. It’s not YOUR creations being used without your consent. That one Reddit comment that referred to the AI community as “gods”? All you’re doing is using our hard work and putting it into a database. I would hardly call that a gods work. Without artists, AI is nothing. So please, as someone with less than 200 followers on my art page, SPEAK UP! If AI art is protested enough maybe, just POSSIBLY we can start a petition to get an opt in system in order.
