I get what you're getting at here, and I've run into the same thing. Last year I started a digital media extracurricular, and our first assignment was to make a horror short film for a film festival. We had a script written out (it was a silly idea for a horror-comedy thriller involving Luigi) and our teacher presented us with a few AI designs for evil Luigis. Of course, we didn't go with any of them, but while all my classmates were just demonizing the AI itself and getting pissed at the teacher, who was still just trying to figure out AI's place in the film industry, I made the argument that it would just be more fun if we did it ourselves, and pretty much everyone agreed with me. We ended up using practical effects instead, using a beat-up Halloween mask, and sure, maybe the vision was conflated a little and the story got a little muddy since it looked less like a monster and more like a Ghostface masked killer or something, but it was fun. AI is not evil, not inherently anyway. It's an Effort Skip button. And yeah, it's tempting to skip past all the hard parts of making something, but it's never really gonna be memorable or compelling without a human element. The only time it becomes a problem is when you get too comfortable using it for everything, as you said. And yeah, if you think using it to skip the effort of homework too often is going to shut down your desire to make things for making things' sake, then yeah, don't use it. But I don't think it will, because as you said, humans have an inherent desire to make stuff. Eventually, I predict, all these AI slop creators will realize that the thing they're doing as a 'job' just isn't compelling, isn't rewarding (in a way besides financially, I mean). We're going to eventually, literally, wake up and start smelling the roses again.
