Nothing in human history shows us that new technology is only used for good. In fact, all of human history is replete with war and destruction where new technology is used to defeat and/or eradicate our neighbors. So, good luck with AI. Human nature is tribal and violent. We are also creative and cooperative. Yet, with weapons and technology now capable of destroying everything we are basically doomed.
