I think the changes to society that will follow if AI continues to develop at this pace will be huge. Sure, in the short term people get replaced but soon enough the companies employing artists could be replaced as well. Fundamentally, art is a form of human communication so in the long term people will adjust and create art using new tools. What really worries me is the consequences for the economy in the transitional period and in the long term, the possibility of human extinction due to AI misalignment.
