I grew up being told that a college degree was the key to a good career. I picked a viable career field (at the time), only for that career field to be downsizing/outsourcing by the time I actually graduated. Frustrating, but I am lucky enough to have a job that I enjoy, even if it isn't one in the field I studied for. On the negative side, the risk of being downsized in favor of a chatbot is very real. AI isn't there quite yet, as it still gets the products mixed up and gives nonsense advice, but if they manage to get past that issue, I have no doubt they're itching to save money by replacing even more employees with bots.
