This is nothing new! Several movies have already predicted these scenarios I don't know why we need some AI nerds to write some paper about what filmmakers have already predicted 50 years ago! First of all the movie Colossus the Forbin Project already predicted this exact scenario and then also the Matrix movies predicted this exact scenario and also the movie Terminator 3 predicted this exact scenario and also Battlestar Galactica also predicted this exact scenario! You know we can make a thousand movies and humans will still be dumb enough and the puppet Masters that rule our worlds will still be greedy enough to do it anyway! The bottom line is because we live in a binary power structure with China and the US vying for power an AI arms race in this scenario is inevitable! I predicted this 2 years ago! mathematically it's inevitable. The only way this could have been avoided if we had been a unified society when we invented ai and then we wouldn't have this arms race thing happening but unfortunately humans are dumb so they're going to destroy themselves because they're freaking idiots!
