I do feel like a lot of artists are very set on being offended by ai art (rightfully so) that they haven't even used it. Obviously I'm not talking about everyone.. but I do think many haven't realised how its actually a great tool that could genuinely help them in many ways. Also It does take a person to give a prompt in order to generate the art, so a lot of what you get is based off of that persons ability to describe their visual references.. basically, most people suck at writing prompts and have no creativity and so any artist who does take to ai art will still be able to create far superior work than your average person.. at any rate, I totally agree with you about the way they acquired the data set. Its actually the same exact issue that pisses me off so much about advertisements, which is that they should all be OPT IN. Opt out is a literal scam and it is definitely bullshit that they used 5.8 billion images from random people without consent in order to train the ai software so that they could make a profit. It's spot on. It's vitally important that these things be opt in and not opt out. Had they had people contribute to the project willingly I would imagine they could have gotten a still impressive and hefty data set to learn from, and without all of the bullshit that comes from getting it the way they did.... anyway, all this to say, I like ai art and its vast potential, but the way they went about building it is definitely at a cost to the artists just for some tech business dudes profit. Which is utter bullshit. Good video.
