I think AI will be able to be creative but it won't necessarily be able to do it in any way that it will feel why one thing is better than another beyond some technical level of analysis which is in complete contradiction to art. I think this will be because AI has no limbic system. It has no need for, and hence has never developed, the complex set of psychosomatic interdependencies that we have that inform our choices and emotions. What we feel in our bones as emotionally compelling is just another set of data points for an AI to analyse. It might have certain preferences for complexity and maybe within the context of the machinery of AI this might translate to art but it will be totally foreign to us. It wouldn't arouse us in the way that we expect art to in all the ways that we define art.
