Idk the other half the sources say the layoffs are not because AI is so dope but because they need to justify AI spending. I also have not met anyone in business telling me how the AI is so good that it replaces whole jobs. Its good at summarizing meetings, sifting email, correcting grammar, finding things you have only vague info about and it can do some coding thats useful for a very specific audience (i am included there) but it also leads you astray quickly if you are not versed in actual coding. the AI leveraged 10x engineer myth is more like a sprinter trying to run a marathon, blasting the first few minutes past everyone but then spends the next 7h puking their guts out wobbling through the landscape. I don't hate AI, I love it and use it a lot and there are many good use cases, but I dont see it just replacing people. It's always going to eff up and we always need to supervise it. Its like an over eager intern with too much time. They can be very valuable but they will hardly replace real positions and need constant supervision...
