@10:20 This will *never* be solved until Tesla integrates lidar. Think about it, billions and billions of miles of data and phantom breaking still hasn't been solved. Hallucinating and seeing things that are not there, or even worse, failing to see something that is there. You encountered it on a single 15 minute ride across town; imagine how often it's actually happening. You'll never fully trust FSD again after it does it to you on the highway with good visibility and nothing around, leading you to be at high risk for being rear-ended at high speed, especially if you don't react quickly to get the car back under human control and back up to highway speed.
This whole "Robotaxi" business is just the next stage of Elon using the public as guinea pigs to keep his stock pumped and pockets lined. And so you know this isn't politically-fueled commentary, I am a right-leaning independent, so more often than not I agree with Elon's new direction politically. I just know that at some point, which roughly coincided with when he took any kind of radar out of Teslas around eight years, his most prominent characteristic in my mind stopped being business savant and started being Twitter troll and typical billionaire whose primary interest in expanding their empire.
I'm also a proud owner of a Tesla Model Y Performance. Overall, I love the car, and certain things about it like the ease of one pedal driving. But it's very important to recognize the limitations of the technology it implements, and that we be honest about it. The people praising Tesla and it's technology endlessly are typically shareholders, and not daily owners/operators. That's disingenuous. And the few perma-Tesla shills who do actually own and use Tesla's and Autopilot or FSD don't do so in remotely challenging circumstances, like every day city driving. That's uninformed. So I appreciate you being transparent and including the clip that demonstrates this tech for what it is; not even remotely close to ready for prime time.
If "Robotaxi" takes out the employee passenger and is unleashed on the public at large anywhere near it's current state, I guarantee the accidents stats will look horrendous compared to WAYMO. Even the non-Robotaxi Autopilot and FSD stats would be far worse if the cars didn't literally force takeovers and conveniently pop out of Autopilot/FSD literally a second before many accidents occur that those system's inadequacies caused.
