I honestly don't see what's all this fuss about. You can imagine an AI as a person, this person goes around DeviantArt and learns the different drawing stiles. Since the pictures are public he/she is free to do so. Why can a person do it and an AI no? If you publish something online you should also understand that anyone can look at it, study it, learn from it and create its own style around it. There is no copyright infringement in doing so, infact it is pretty much as ANY artist learns to do art. The only difference here is that this artist is not a human being, that's literally all. Even though the AI learned from your drawings and style, it is but copying it, exactly as a human artist who learns from your art is not copying your work when he/she uses the knowledge he/she learned from you. I think most of you are just afraid to become obsolete, but you shouldn't see it this way, you should instead learn how to use this tool to improve your art exactly as many software developers use GitHub Copilot to write software faster and perhaps better. In short, DeviantArt is not breaking any law using your public work to create an AI because such AI and it's works are NOT derivative works, there is simply no law against it and there shouldn't be because, after all, every human artist in this world learned in this exact same way.
