It doesn't take much imagination or reasoning to extrapolate the existing world with AI and automation overlaid on it. The wealthy will own all means of production and machine labor, and they will move to use it to serve themselves exclusively. Their intention will be to leave everyone else in abject poverty, fighting for scraps until they all perish.
However, the masses of people left will rise up, cause the greatest revolution worldwide ever seen, and role out the guillotines. Society will abandon capitalism because AI and automation are fundamentally incompatible with capitalism and cannot coexist with it: AI will make capitalism unviable and obsolete. The masses will force society to adopt a modern socialist system, where machines serve the needs of everyone, not just a few. Many people will perish and reproduction will plummet, and accordingly, so will the human population (there will be far fewer people). The transition into the future will be a painful, bloody, and deadly, but will result in better lives for the vast majority of people.
