Sadly, I am not surprised by the thought of "i care about the result, not the method." Not (just) because of who's saying it or the values of ai bros, but because then sentiment has been around for a long time in a less straightforward form. (To me) this sentiment is the same as when someone looks at modern or contemporary art and says that it doesn't belong in a gallery because it is simple or not aesthetically pleasing, when that's not the point of those pieces. A lot of those pieces are not made for the visual purpose, but to convey a meaning, create a feeling, or display an unconventional way of making art (e.g., portrait of ross in la, seagram murals, blue monochrome). I don't entirely fault the viewers. It's not entirely a known concept, but since that is what is integrated into our mind, the idea of product over method is pretty easy to fall into. (Also, there is a difference between disliking a piece and thinking the piece does not deserve to be on display)
