Every day it’s becoming easier and easier to slip into a spiral of nihilism. I want nothing more than to be optimistic — to be hopeful for the future of art and my future as a creative… But I just can’t bring myself to do it anymore. I feel exhausted. I’ve always felt like an outcast for my whole life and now I feel even more alienated as former friends and family around me keep championing the “abilities” of generative AI. As I’m writing this, I’m going to be starting to study film at university in about a month. I’m giving myself one year to make a decision on whether to live or end it all. It’s funny how nowadays, suicide is the safer career path than wanting to become an artist.
