As much as I see what Charlie is saying, I understand why people are willing to deepfake porn of people they fantasize about. It's a fantasy thing. The thoughts, they are a common and normal experience (the fantasy part of it).
HOWEVER, even with this understanding of the sexual psychology behind deepfakes, I agree with Charlie: the damage done by deepfaking others is extensive, permanent, and irreversible. I hope we get something done to prevent deepfakes from ruining the well-being of innocent people. Even something as simple as requiring all deepfakes to be labeled as deepfakes would be a start in the right direction.
