AI costs to end users are currently being subsidized by VC money creating the illusion that the use of these models by unskilled operators is sustainable and it absolutely is not. The operating costs on the hardware keeping them cool enough to operate and the power required to run the processors is absolutely insane. Like how YouTube started ratcheting up the ads and this and that nickel and diming with AI the pay per generation and/or single generation token limits and/or total daily token limits are going to start being things with on the fly pay more credits to continue or wait however long and that is going to be simultaneous with the subscription costs for the AI that already exist going up as well. Currently AI is in the capture market share phase they are trying to keep the oligopoly to as few entities as possible. But also yeah it isn't so easy to use and it especially isn't easy to use efficiently that is pretty insanely hard as is while still surprisingly laborious and as previously stated not of trivial skill required a schmuck can just reroll their anchor prompt like 50 times and brute force an acceptable output. Absolutely no one should get used to that. 50 rerolls is going to be $10K here in the next couple years.
