I had a long 'conversation' with an AI in which we, between us, came up with the plot for a weird fantasy novel. When I treated the AI as if it was a person, thanking and/or praising it at certain points for coming up with useful story ideas, it just made the whole process more enjoyable. I wasn't looking for a slave to follow my orders, I wanted a collaborator to provide me with a way to work towards the goal of fleshing out a set of storylines, and that is what I got. I also hate not saying please and thank you, to anyone or (now) any AI. It's like using the turn signals on my car when nobody else is on the road - I do it because I'm uncomfortable when I don't.
