AI will be normal in 3-4 years. Nobody will care about this stupid whine anymore... New types of artists and art will appear. It's a normal evolution. It happened in many fields. Think about gunpowder. What did the guy that spent 10000 hours learning sword or shooting arrow feel when they were destroyed in one second by a push of a trigger with no skill whatsoever? And again, when cars came out, what about people who spent life caring, growing, and learning how to ride horses the best they could to be as fast as possible with perfect technique and skill... what about amanuensis who devoted their lives to calligraphy when printing press became the norm? What about portrait artists when photography was invented? Artisans, when industrialization started, and mass production made them obsolete... spent their lives polishing those skills just to be replaced by a machine (sound familiar?) Get real; this is just a step, and it happened many times before. Art will evolve, and people will find new ways to make fantastic stuff. They whine much more because the internet is a mass whining media. People still learn to fence, archery, or ride horses, and artisans still make fantastic stuff; people will still draw by hand for fun or a particular type of art (that will hopefully be highly regarded and paid accordingly). Hopefully, those who draw as a job will no longer need to work 15 hours a day doing extremely repetitive stuff, running their eyes and wrists to meet a deadline for a comic/art that people pay nearly nothing for. Artists get paid too little for what they do for the time they spend. It's time for them to balance their life better, learn magic ways to use AI, and make it unique with the skills they learned previously but spend 1/10 of the time! AI will help them to get a better life if they are smart enough to use it the right way that others can't... Good artists will still be good, and whiners will still be whiners.
