Worth noting that the book's co-author is a eugenicist and both Nate here and his co-author have been fearmongering about AI for decades. The AGI existential risk community is very small and close-knit and includes them, most of the noted AI company founders, and Peter Thiel and his acolytes. Notably not in this group are a lot of computer engineers or trained academics.
