As a former comp sci major, I want to let you know that Gen Ai was always meant to be more of a toy than a useful tool. Using datasets to make an ai is a common machine learning assignment for learning how to import large amounts of data and have a program find unspecified commonalities. Getting the Ai to create an image similar to the dataset images was a fun way to test that it was actually identifying common points in images. (I played with a site a couple years back that was a student's project. The student collected like 200 photos off public domain sites and sorted them into 12 categories ranging 6-30 pictures each and you had sliders to decide how many of the 30-something common points of each category it would put in your generated image. Even if you maxed out one category by itself, it couldn't recreate an image or style, just the general shapes) Everyone in my class knew Ai images aren't real art and would never reach the same level as the original artist. It is like the digital equivalent of a furby, making a mediocre/incomplete copy of what's already there. You can rephrase every use of gen Ai in that context to understand why it's a bad business idea and will never hold up.
The generated art/music ai bros say is the future is basically like putting a furby in front of a recording of the best singer ever and telling people that the mediocre copy the toy makes is going to top the charts. The same works for corporations trying to use it in place of the customer support department or legal team or whatever. It becomes a call room full of furbies without a real paid or knowledgeable employee in sight, and the company gets sued into the ground. It might get popular as an idea for a bit and be a meme for a bit longer, but it will only last as long as the number of human made art pieces outnumber the Ai generated ones at least 10 to 1.
Basically, the idea of gen Ai being the future of media and information is an in joke among programmers, and people who do not understand computers or how Ai works took it seriously and are going way too far trying to make it happen. (Also, If you want to break the Ai even faster, look into where the Ai is scraping from, get a fake account for those sites, generate a ton of Ai images, use the glazy/nightshade filters on them, and then post them cross platform style. It doesn't take long to generate images and Ai models are known to collapse if fed too much Ai generated content. Poisoning the image as well is just a bonus.)
