Imo copyright is an overall negative
AI companies paying big fish and stealing work of smaller creators? That's just how the system is designed to function and has functioned for a long time. Such laws were written with tons of influence from greedy corporations. And patents might be even worse with patented necessities (like medicines) and the mirror of copyright - bogus patent claims made to extract money from smaller businesses or from individuals on the expectation that no one would fight them due to time and money required
A much better thing would be some sort of an open license. Smth like Creative Commons ShareAlike Attribution? Won't restrict ai training though, but seems like ai has some problems with copyright rn and has a bigger current problem of still not making any money, forming a bubble which is set to burst. So eh, don't wanna benefit big companies seeking to exploit artists but also want to push back against the big companies seeking to exploit artists in a different way
