We gotta be honest here. The people who voted red because of immigration chose people who absolutely made the job market worse by supercharging AI. Rich conservatives love immigrants. They get to work them to the bone, reap the profits then point at them for the reason why "real" Americans are suffering.
Turns out you basically said that as I was typing it but it's important to realize that billionaires (who typically are right wing) benefit the most from conservative politicians. They'll groan about foreigners but happily get filthy rich off them. Voting for them strengthens the economic problems they are complaining about.
