The fact that you said these are good quality articles tell me someone else took the offer of writing AI-assisted articles. Because AI is not capable of producing good articles, it just produces a lot of words. And from a certain level up (i.e. if it needs to contain more than a summary of easily googleable facts), it is absolutely incapable of making any sense. So if the articles are indeed as good as you say, an actual human is putting the critical thinking and creative writing into them. They're basically using AI the same way as you, and that's who you lost your job to. I'm guessing they took the lower pay and used AI to cram out more articles as a means to not actually lower their income. I'm not saying this is fair or how it should be, just that you're giving AI way more credit than it deserves.
