I'm not an AI bro. I actually routinely bag on AI and I unironically think AI could end up being an absolute disaster for humanity. However, the reality is, it is here to stay. No lawsuit is going to stop AI. The genie is out of the bottle. I also think the outrage about art specifically is mostly virtue signaling. AI steals literally everything. Everything it does is stolen in the same way the art is. Every person who vibe codes with AI is doing exactly what AI artists are, and so on. Having said all that, I was recently using AI to generate some images for cards in my home brew role playing game, so I can get some cards custom made. It made clear to me what a powerful tool AI can be to enable people to create products they otherwise have no opportunity to create. I'm not talking about creating images and calling myself an artist. I'm talking about being able to take stuff I did create, and then using AI to apply skills that I don't have, like typography, and that I don't have a hope of ever affording to pay someone to do. I think that is pretty cool, and it makes me sad that there is such a witch hunt attitude towards any AI use at all.
