I find it better that this happened now than AI being introduced without public knowledge, this is a perfect window for not giving money or renown to AI art and promoting real artists.
Artists have an opportunity in the sense that people are going to care more for them, so maybe they feel more connected to the artist.
Imagine if you go to an Art gallery and it's designed that each piece has a plaque that shows how they made the painting, so people feel more connected to the art.
