1:56 This is an extremely incorrect view. Yes, the LLMs predict the "next token", but next token prediction by something like GPT-4 almost certainly uses an inner "world model" of some sophistication that can reason and does, in fact, have a pretty good idea of what the entire structure of the sentence, paragraph and even essay has to be. This is not evident in ChatGPT ("GPT-3.5") but becomes quite clear in the cutting edge models.
