By same logic taking pictures, especially subpar ones should not have copyright. I think charlie is wrong here. If you made something you can claim it yours. If the team behind the tool states in their user agreement that anything you generate belongs to them or is not copyrightable - that they are correct. But if not - then its your art. You can train your own AI now. You can program a script to draw patterns for you since forever. I've made some swirl patterns with fucking actionscript in school many many years ago and sold them as stocks. If you make a pendulum paint bucket drip paint on a sheet of canvas - is it not copyrightable? What about making art using clipart. Or using assets? Making a 3d render with bunch of premade assets? Making music with bought samples?
