My views on the generative AI are a bit divided. Because I do think generative AI has its place. As an aspiring artist learning to draw, I find AI useful as an inspiration tool. I will load up an AI model on my computer and have it churn out like 50 pics on a prompt and go through them, looking at the compositions, the posing, things like that, and find inspiration for my own stuff. And I think that's a great use case for AI in art. It can help solidify your thinking and mental image of what you wanna draw.
That said, I do think AI is in the stage where it's being heavily abused. Companies hear free content and they start feeling tingles in their pants. My art teacher works in the animation industry and lost their job to their company pivoting to AI. And I think that's the real issue here. AI is a good tool that, like any good tool, will cause massive damage if not used responsibly. And until society understands how this tool should be used, I really see no issues with poisoning their data sets until they learn to behave themselves.
That's my two cents anyway.
