I can sympathise, but I find it *really* difficult to call AI art theft at all. And I don't think that's the real reason artists are upset. There's plenty of artists that take inspiration from other artists and it's certianly not unusual to have artists copy styles and take little bits from artists here and there to create their own works. Back in art class when we studied other artists, one of the topics of discussion involved spotting others' works within others' works as well as the development of styles. Extremely few -if any- artists take any issue with that, hell some find it flattering. The only difference I'm seeing here is that AI art represents the potential that in the future, anybody with no artistic merit or skill can prompt AI to create almost exactly what they envision and more, without the use of an artist for next to no cost and can pump dozens.. if not hundreds of images out in the time it takes artists to draw a single one. AI art is a massive threat to the industry and artists are understandably not happy.. The "Starving artist" is no joke and it hits a lot of creative types hard, not just within the art industry. Your anology when talking about theft was just awful and the reason I hate anologies in general, because they're more often than not, not analogous at all and are often used to make situations seem worse and more shocking to manipulate the view and emotions of the listener.. For fuck sake, breaking into stores and stealing stuff, home invasion and rape is absolutely nothing like a program creating a completely new image by deriving from the styles of multiple artists, known or unknown. I don't at all agree with Shad that he's an artist because he can use prompts. I stopped watching him shortly after the creation of his second channel, Knights Watch because I didn't like seeing his ego grow even bigger, and get so much worse to the point of being obnoxious. I find some of drawings quite decent, he's clearly got the ability to make some good looking stuff if he'd stick with it and develop it, sad that he's using AI as a replacement.
